Of course, December is all about baking for the holidays, but I made sure to put plenty of festive savory dishes and snacks in this list too. You’ll find nutritious recipes to cook up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as the easiest sugar cookie recipe you’ll ever try.

I happen to have a bag of fresh cranberries in the fridge so definitely going to make these Healthy Cranberry Orange Muffins this week!
These fluffy muffins are full of flavor and packed with whole grains. I use applesauce and Greek yogurt to keep them super moist, but I’ve tested dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free versions that all work out well too (subs in the full post).
If you don’t want to use a food processor pulse the cranberries, you can easily chop them by hand too.
Fun recipe to make with little chefs (or have a peaceful baking moment like I did and do it alone 😆).

🎁The gifts ideas on my list come from a wide range of places and I felt it was important to support as many small brands, independent businesses, and Etsy shops as possible.
There are also some Amazon items in the list because of convenience and sometimes we all shop there, right? However, if you see a cookbook on Amazon, you can do a search on a local/independently owned bookstore website to see if they have the same one.

💖A mom friend asked me how to deal with picky eaters during Thanksgiving or a special meal and this is what immediately came from my heart.
Holidays are stressful enough. Do everything you can (or let as much go as you can) to make it easier and more enjoyable for yourself.
And of course if this advice adds more stress, don’t listen to me or anyone else. You know what works best for your child and your family.

Vegan, whole grain (or easy to make gluten-free), mixed up in one bowl, and packed with pumpkin goodness!

I had to test this recipe 6 times to figure out the perfect texture. I wanted a cookie that was not too cakey but also had a good amount of pumpkin in it (most pumpkin cookies have maybe 1/3 cup and that’s not a pumpkin cookie if you ask me). Anyways, they are not as chewy as a classic chocolate chip cookie but not like eating a cake in cookie form (Although I do have a recipe like that is really good. Check out the Healthy Pumpkin Cookie with Maple Glaze on my site).
These would a be a great addition to a Fall party or just as an after school snack or treat.

Do you try and do it all yourself? I’m def guilty of that a lot!
But it’s doing our kids a disservice. They need to learn to be a part of family traditions and preparing for special meals. I feel like it’s especially important for boys to practice since traditionally women have been tasked with holiday responsibilities.
For the past few years my kids have picked a dessert they want to make for Thanksgiving and it’s become such a fun tradition. In past years, they’ve also made place cards for the table and greeted guests and taken their coats. It doesn’t have to be a lot of extra work for us.

Move over pie!! We have lots of festive desserts to try.
Just like all my recipes these 6 yummy desserts are super easy, a little more nutritious than the average dessert (while still be delicious), and perfect for kids to get involved with. (Or for older kids to tackle all on their own!)
