Watermelon “Fries” with Strawberry Yogurt Dip
This Watermelon “Fries” with Strawberry Yogurt Dip went viral on social media, and can’t you see why? It’s a refreshing, easy, and healthy snack that kids and adults go crazy for. Only a few simple ingredients and so much fun to eat, make the watermelon fries for you next summer party.
Kids in the Kitchen:
- Kids can really help make this recipe from start to finish. Crinkle cutters are a very safe tool for kids of all ages, so it’s a great way for even younger kids to practice.
- Prep the Watermelon: Make things easier by peeling and cutting the watermelon into manageable slices before have this help cut those slices into fry sticks. If they don’t come out perfect, that ok. They will still taste great.
- Measure and blend: Kids can help measure the handful of ingredients needed for the dip and add them to a blender. Remind kids about using the blender safely. Have them secure the lid/top and then let them turn it on.
- Serve: Have kids help make a pretty platter of the watermelon fries and dip to serve to guests or just for family.
Tips and Subs for Making Watermelon “Fries” with Strawberry Yogurt Dip:
- Crinkle Cutter: There are a few kinds easily available on Amazon. THIS is the one I like best. It’s sturdy, easy to use, and only around $9. Of course you can also cut the watermelon into simple sticks if you don’t have this special tool. However, the crinkle cutter makes the watermelon even more fun.
- Dairy free: You can easily make this recipe without dairy by using your favorite dairy-free yogurt.
- Sweetener: You can really add as much or as little sweetener to the dip as you’d like. I usually just add a bit of honey to balance out the yogurt. However, you can use maple syrup, sugar, or leave out the sweetener entirely if you prefer.
- Dip and alternatives: Some people have mentioned the dip being a little too thin. Make sure to use Greek yogurt that’s very thick. Blending in the strawberries makes the yogurt thin out quite a bit. So if you want a thicker dip, just stir some jam into the yogurt or leave it plain/sweetened with honey.
